Aquatic Supervisor Training (AST)
For deck-level supervisory staff, this 10-12 hour course provides the knowledge and skills beyond National Lifeguard certification to manage a safe aquatic environment.
The purpose of Aquatic Supervisor Training course is to offer candidates basic or introductory information about supervision. Supplemental learning will be gained through experience, facility-specific training presented by the candidate’s future employers and more advanced courses and workshop.
Pre-requisite: National Lifeguard or Lifesaving Society Instructor certification (need not be current); and 100 hours of experience as a lifeguard and/or instructor or letter of recommendation from Supervisor.
Evaluation & certification: The AST Instructor evaluates and certifies AST candidates.
Candidate recognition: Certification card.

Place: Room PE-3007 Physical Education Building, Memorial University, St. John’s, NL
Trainer: Perry Smith, Program Director, Lifesaving Society, Ontario
Time: June 6 - 6:00 pm -10:00 pm
June 7 - 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
